Raj3een Sawa

Overview:

After the sever consequences of the July-August 2006 war, Lebanon started to regain its life by ringing the school bells to welcome its young generation back to school. In order to support parents unable to buy necessary stationary for their kids in the beginning of the school year, The Rotaract Club of Beirut answered the call of Rotaract Aley to join efforts with Rotaract Mina, BCRAC, Rotaract Alex San Stefano from Egypt and Famagusta from Cyprus in Raj3een Sawa campaign. As the word “Raj3een sawa” implies, our campaign seeks to reassure each student that the Rotaract Family is coming back with You to school and is making sure You’ve got all what you need to excel this year.

The campaign is divided into three levels:

1)- Informing citizens about the project and motivating them to donate stationary materials to the kids of the south through distributing A4 flyers and hanging posters in various bookstores in Beirut

2)-Placing big boxes as a second step, in various bookstores in which parents or kids can donate any type of stationary from copy books, pens, pencils, schools bags, etc…

3)- Reassembling all donations acquired from the bookstores, and sending them to our brave students of the south.

We planned to visit Southern Lebanon to hand the collected items to the kids during October. Through this humble gesture, we hope that we would be able to make a small difference and leave a big heart print, like always.

Process:

September was the month of collecting these items and coordinating with Raj3een Sawa partners to make sure we covered all the students needs.6 clubs from the district partnered with us to make this project happen. Reuters donated over 250 bags to giveaway. In addition, several supporters helped us fund this project such as the local bookstores and people buying items and donating them, the Rotary Club of Aley, families from Abu Dhabi donated to BCRAC additional items, as well as to Famagusta who also shipped some stationery to us.

The clubs went to the South to deliver bags, notebooks, pencils, text books, etc. to over 300 students at Bilal Fahes School in Nabatieh, South of Lebanon, the area that was severely damaged by the last war in July.

As for the impact of the project, over 300 student (orphan and poor) had the chance to get new items to use for their whole school year. Their smile is the best result above all!
