| On Sunday, July 24, 2005, more than 20
members, guests and friends from various Rotaract clubs
enjoyed a long, adventurous experience at the Assi River for
a whole day. They went rafting, sunbathed, had lunch and
enjoyed the dazzling scenes of the Lebanese Bekaa region.
It was 8 in the morning when everyone started gathering
around Beirut's Museum area. The sound of giggles and group
conversations was dominant among the Rotaractors. Minutes
later everyone prepared for the lift off as they gathered in
their cars and a bus that was brought especially for the
trip. Nobody was worried about the long hours on the road
ahead, since Rotaractors are experts in enjoying their time
whenever they were together. In the bus, some were singing,
other were joking or having a conversation, while a few had
the nap they missed. In the cars, everyone was "supposed" to
follow the bus, but many turned out lost and even reached
the Syrian borders!!
As they started arriving, nothing stopped the Rotaractors
from enjoying their time; not the burning sun or the long
hours on the road, which were made to be entertaining.
Groups started forming for the rafting adventure, and the
excitment started voicing out: "Rafting time! Rafting time!
Everyone let's pile in the boats!".
It was the rafting "Rush hour" for everyone. Unfortunately,
the boats had limited room that didn't fit all those who
desired to start, so many had to sit waiting for the boats
to come back. It was more than an hour of waiting, but
definitely not a boring hour at all; some played cards,
others chatted while enjoying the sun. Some even decided to
start eating way before lunch!
However, the real adventure was in the rafting journey. The
scene of Rotaractors from different clubs gathering in one
rafting boat was thrilling. As the adventure started, the
long, curvy pathway of the cold river was paved with trees
and bushes on the sides, not to forget the steep waterfalls
every now and then. Adrenaline was spicing up, as
Rotaractors used every single bit of their energy to avoid
the dangers and enjoy the moment. Even when they're in the
middle of Lebanon's biggest rivers, Rotaractors had no room
for silence. They sang, waved to people, told stories and
joked till the last waterdrop of their destination.
Unforgettable moments were spent.
In the end of the day, everyone had so much fun they were
too exhausted to go back home. Hugs and kisses were
exchanged as the Rotaractors prepared to head for their
homes, craving for a deserved rest after a long, adventurous
day. What's next?
