We always thought of us in Rotaract club of Beirut as true fellows…but since July 12, 2006, we added a new meaning to the word fellows… we became fellows in servicing a community that needed everything from a pack of bread to a smile on a face..

The first week of the attacks drifted most of the members away from Beirut. Some went to the mountains or the north…Others stayed with tears in their eyes and Fear on their lives.. Emails, sms and phone calls were communicated non stop between us, checking on how everyone is doing and wishing that they would be safe.

Four days after, the fear and denial turned into action, into a will to survive, a motivation to help, a strength to function, a drive to act! The Rotaract spirit was back on track once the president got back to Beirut. Many members enrolled in Beirut rescue mission to assist Over 75,000 displaced civilians who came from the south and Beirut suburbs to stay in Public schools, centres and public gardens.

From taking part in providing basic needs to the displaced civilians, supplying them with clothes, and animation activities for the kids, Rotaract Club of Beirut is on a continuous relation with many other Rotaract clubs in Lebanon who are all active in helping their communities. Rotaract Club of Beirut is also on a permanent update with Rotary Club of Beirut who is offering all the help needed.

We do nothing less than our best. It still is a risky situation for all of us, yet being there together, makes one realise that it is easier to face the life challenges with friends around.. And the strength he gains can be directed towards the benefit of a community.. We Can Make a Difference…And we’re doing everything we can in these hard circumstances to make it.

Rotaract club Of Beirut, a club where one is super proud to belong to!
